As a longtime listener & lover of breaks and trance, as well as progressive & atmospheric breakbeat music, I started gravitating to the scene in Tampa Florida, around 1994.
Originally from Trenton, New Jersey, my family moved down to Tampa, FL when I was 13. After high school my interest in this genre began. I eventually started spinning and I enjoyed it for many years, but at some point life took over and things changed. Eventually, I ended up losing my equipment and vinyl collection after many years of building it up.
I haven’t always made the best decisions in life, but my faith and my relationship with God have provided me a path to start over. Phoenix Rising came into existence as a reminder to me, and anyone, that you can come back from anything. For me, it was through faith, determination and perseverance…plus a lot of patience.
After a ~15 year hiatus I began mixing again. I wanted to pick up where I left off, and thankfully I was able to, so I started buying equipment and building my collection from scratch. I’ve been out of practice for awhile, but it’s somewhat like riding a bike. You don’t forget the basics. With today’s technology it has been much easier making new acquaintances in far off places, and this has really helped broaden my music selection.
My goal is to bring breaks to as many people as possible, in my “United We Break” sessions. I’ll also be posting my mixes on MixCloud (like and follow).
With the support of God, my beautiful wife and daughters, my next steps are to create my own music, but until then, I hope you enjoy the compilations I put out. Thanks for supporting me, and for checking out PhoenixRisingMusik!
